Clever Case: What are "Case Communication" and "Billing Preference" for?

Case Communication

When we put a person into Clever Case, we want to include as much data as we can on the person.  Additional email addresses, physical addresses, work numbers, etc. all help us run better conflict checks in the future.  But at times, a client might tell you their preference for what address and way they want to communicate about their matter.  If a person tells you their preference, you can now track it in “Case Communication”!  That setting, which is on the matter page and is specific to that one matter, allows you to specify what they prefer and override what might have been their default email, phone, or mailing address.  We hope this will help you better communicate with people using the method they prefer (when that’s possible).

Billing Preference

As we roll out the client portal in a few months and allow people to view/pay their bills online (outside of Xero), we needed a way to track if someone wanted their bill sent a special way. PLEASE do not use this at the moment – while we’re sending bills in Xero, the finance team is not monitoring this status.  If a client currently wants to change their billing preference, please create a Finance Request Hub ticket with the category “Client Statements & invoices”-> “Update Billing Preferences”.

In a few months, clients will be able to set this themselves in the upcoming client portal – we’re excited for this upcoming change!
